The mission started with a challenge to build a church in a third world country. A challenge that many thought was impossible for a small Cowley County country church.
That challenge, made by Pastor Samuel Lee to his congregation at
God and Pastor Lee eventually led
Grandview to Haiti and
60 orphaned children at Big House Orphanage. The Mission, to positively change the lives of Haitian children, in turn, has also positively forever changed the lives of
the congregation of
Grandview. Several years later, we now have 80 plus Haitian children as an extended family.
The Grandview missions have been involved with two organizations called "Living Water for the World" and "Solar Under the Sun." Grandview is teaming up with these two
organizations and other mission groups from around the USA to install solar-powered water filtration systems at several sites in Haiti, including the Big House orphanage.
By providing clean water to these communities, the children of the orphanages and the local residents have a much better opportunity to live healthy lives in the light of
the Lord.
Recently, Grandview is assisting a new farming organization in Haiti called PHF (Planting for Hope and Future). This organization was founded by one of our Haitian friends,
Frantz Dorcel Ady, whom we had hired as an interpreter on previous mission projects. God showed Ady a vision about helping his country. Ady is implementing that vision and PHF is
changing the way farming is done in Haiti. Utilizing drip irrigation, polyculture, and other farming techniques, the crop yield has increased dramatically as well as creating many jobs.
See the H4H newsletter link below for updates. H4H (Harvesting 4 Haiti) is an organization in Ohio that provides financial assistance to PHF until the project farms become self-sustaining.
Grandview is blessed to have a
God who gives strength to do His work and a community of people to
support these missions.
